It is an Awkward and Awesome thursday.

Folks – the mid-school year blues is creeping in. Call me a homeschooler; lack of self motivation is academically deadly. Somehow I always end up losing most of my inspiration close to the end of the first semester. Particularly this year–with five more months of SAT stress looming in front of me and a lack of winter break–things are getting tough. Everyday I am less productive then the day before. Right now I am pretty super duper discouraged. But hey, just because I haven’t been studying nine hours a day doesn’t mean my life hasn’t been amazing. Lets take a little break and appreciate the little things that have made this week amazing. For this I steal a lovely ritual form Sydney over at The DayBook.

Akward and Awesome thursday: highlighting those little moments that made this past week amazing.

  • Enthusiastically replying to my neighbor before realizing she had been addressing her four year old daughter… not me.
  • Italian rap. Yeah, I definitely could have lived without being exposed to that.
  • Introductions beginning with “Your new in the neighborhood… are you a married woman?” …Dude,  I am in highschool. ” Oh, I thought dat you wuz a little older then that.” “No kidding.” Okay Susanna, time to laugh and walk away. Laugh and walk away. Or should I have given the supreme dork face and added: ” Course I’m SiNgLe!?!”
  • The Great Gatsby. Does anyone else think this is an awkward book?
  • U.S. government rants flowing forth out of me at the most inopportune of times.

  • Boberry biscuit dates with lovely friends.
  • Skype calls with my best friend.
  • Kneading bread out of the trunk of a minivan in the middle of a parking lot. ( I think this qualifies as awesomely awkward.)
  • Playing soccer with a one year old.
  • Singing veggietale silly songs with a van full of high school and college students.
  • Morning Revival with a sister who I do not even know.
  • Forgotten pointless disney musicals of the 80’s and 90’s. Why do so many of my favorite movies come from the disney dark age? It makes absolutely no sense. They are stupid and I love them.
  • Remembering them good o’le days and yet still somehow looking forward to what is ahead:
Truth bowl pictures are always the most entertaining.
Remember this? huh?
Zach adored our sisterly activities.
“Here is the grave of our little freind the bird we found flying in our garage” – this was my first funeral guys.
And it doesn’t seem like all that long ago.

I'm Susanna, a 20-year-old Christian girl incorrigibly addicted spontaneous adventures. My first dream was to become a pioneer. Unfortunately, I was born a couple centuries late, so I've decided to read, cook, run, and travel the world until my time machine is finished. You'll mostly likely find me getting into trouble and/or eating licorice. I am currently blogging the misadventures of a middle-school teacher in training. Come join me on my quest to become the next Ms. Frizzle!

  1. Glad you enjoyed. Obviously my lil bro has been through a lot having four older sisters. I take credit for his manliness – diligently training him in the art of science experiments/cooking, gentleman rules, and roughhousing.
