Reality VS Fantasy

Look familiar?
It is Mordor from Lord of the Rings. Oh and by the way – I hiked across there.
It is called the Kilauea Iki trail in Volcanoes National Park (Hawaii). You legit walk across
a lava lack. The lava is dried, but still – complete and crackled desolation surrounds you in every direction. Steam pours from the ground in vents across the trail. It is rather the unique hike.

Tiny crystals were scattered across the ground. The lake was huge. I felt like I was walking
across an actual volcanic culdera. In some places the hardened lava was still shapped, so you could  imagine what it looked like as it flowed. In other areas, cracked layers of rock created gaps in the ground. It felt like Mars, or StarWars, but better. Zach ( our volcano enthusiast and crystal collector) proclaimed it to be “paradise!”
And you think these writers and filmmakers are creative? Let me tell you – they get all their inspiration from the beautiful nature God has already created. He is where it all comes from. So next time you take that gorgeous hike – don’t say “This looks like a movie!” remember that in reality “the movie looks like this!”

I'm Susanna, a 20-year-old Christian girl incorrigibly addicted spontaneous adventures. My first dream was to become a pioneer. Unfortunately, I was born a couple centuries late, so I've decided to read, cook, run, and travel the world until my time machine is finished. You'll mostly likely find me getting into trouble and/or eating licorice. I am currently blogging the misadventures of a middle-school teacher in training. Come join me on my quest to become the next Ms. Frizzle!
