Living outside the box:

Just because I’m gradumatated doesn’t mean I miss homeschool field trips. Highlights from this week? A spectacular talk at Davidson college by pixar’s Tony DeRose about how animators use mathematics to create stories AND a trip to the discovery place to watch an extremely informative and inspiring IMAX about D-Day COMPLETED by a stop at the Sally store (because the art of thrift shopping is an education in itself).

While the majority of our city was stuck inside behind textbooks or computers, my siblings and I had the chance to check out a wonderful new imax about D-Day. We had the entire theatre completely to ourselves.
“Wow, it’s like we rented it out special like people do when they want to…”
“To propose?”
“Yeah.”
Just another reminder of the joys of living outside the box of an average existence. Growing up I used to worry… am I missing something? My life is so different from the average school girl. Yeah, my parents would remind me. You are missing getting stuck in traffic at the end of every work day. You are missing going to the beach when it is swarmed with other vacationing human beings. You are missing going to theme parks at peak seasons and standing in line for an hour before every ride.  Okay, okay. I’m convinced.
Feeling blessed.

I'm Susanna, a 20-year-old Christian girl incorrigibly addicted spontaneous adventures. My first dream was to become a pioneer. Unfortunately, I was born a couple centuries late, so I've decided to read, cook, run, and travel the world until my time machine is finished. You'll mostly likely find me getting into trouble and/or eating licorice. I am currently blogging the misadventures of a middle-school teacher in training. Come join me on my quest to become the next Ms. Frizzle!
