20 things you probably didn’t care to know about me.

Sweet Emily Ann Putzke, a fantastic writer and favorite new blogging buddy of mine, tagged me for the 20 things tag.

1. How tall are you?

That is a rather controversial topic in our home, in all honestly I think I’m pretty close to 6ft. Daddy still says 5″11. I’m taller than my dad and all three of my brothers. My mom says its because I used to rub my big toe. Don’t ask.

2. Do you have a hidden talent, if so, what?

I’m really good at burning soup, but I try not to advertise that too much.

3. What’s your biggest blog-related pet peeve?

Sometimes blogger formats my final post differently than I edited it and when I go back to fix it things look fine in the editing station but are still messed up on the blog. Ug. That gets me.

4. What’s your biggest non-blog related pet peeve?

Loud gum chewing. Can’t take it.

5. What’s your favorite song? Okay, I’m gonna get a bit Classical music geeky here for a minute:

Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto I.
The Moldau by Bedrich Smetana

6. What’s your favorite Etsy shop that isn’t yours?

NiceStreet2013 – I absolutely adore the galaxy necklaces I bought for me and my best friend.

7. What’s your favorite way to spend your free time when you’re alone?
When my family is home you would probably find me reading, walking, or finding graveyards to explore. On those rare occasions in which I actually have the whole house to myself, I take full advantage by banging away on the piano and guitar and singing my favorite songs at the very top of my lungs.

8. What’s your favorite junk food?

Black licorice, brownies, and homemade whipped cream.

9. Do you have a pet or pets? If so, how many and what are their names?

We used to have six chickens, two parakeets, and two perfect dogs. Unfortunately we moved to a fancy cookie cutter neighborhood with a lot of perfect people with perfect lawns that all look the same. We aren’t allowed to have chickens or dogs, and I’m allergic to parakeets. This is the tragic story of Olson pets. Thankfully I’ve still got four siblings at home. They keep me busy enough.

I dream of  having two hedgehogs named Alexander and Napolean and a St. Bernard named Dante.

10. What’re your number one favorite nonfiction and fiction books?

I quite enjoyed “The World is Flat” by Thomas Friedman. And in my not so humble opinion,  “War and Peace” by Leo Tolstoy is the finest novel ever written.

11. What’s your favorite beauty product?

Smile. I love it when people smile, it makes them beautiful.

12. When were you last embarrassed? What happened?

Oh, I remember this one time when I fell really deep into my thoughts and started talking to myself (like a serious discussion) in the middle of a long walk, until I was caught by a disapproving neighbor. Whoops, that happens ony a daily basis.

13. If you could only drink one beverage {besides water} for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That is the first easy question on this tag. Chai Tea. Hands down.

14.What’s your favorite movie?

Favorite of favorites? The Hunchback of Notre Dame or Les Miserables.

15. What were you in high school? Prom queen, jock, nerd, cheerleader, valedictorian, band geek, loner, artist, prep?
I tasted a bit of it all, but I usually advertise as class clown, nerd, and valedictorian. One of the great freedoms of homeschooling.

16. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Oh man. Back to the really tough questions. When I designed my dream home as a ten year old, it was an RV. I love traveling and am not planning on settling in any one place anytime soon. I do sometimes selfishly ask the Lord to grant me a few years of living on a real farm, preferbly one laden with alpacas.  I’ve also dreamed of living in a cottage or a lighthouse by the water in Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island. Ultimately my dream is to end up in Europe, but anywhere where I can have adventures will be accepted.

17. PC or Mac?

My dad is an iPhone app designer, so I’ve been thoroughly and completely indoctrinated that there is no other reliable computer besides Apple. To buy a PC would be to turn to the dark side.

 18. Last romantic gesture from a crush, date, boyfriend or spouse?

Don’t have much to share on that topic. I’m still waiting on God’s timing in that arena while enjoying my Lord and Savior Jesus’s sweet love everday. I was touched by this sweet verse:

You number my wanderings. You put my tears in to your bottle. Aren’t they in your book?

Psalms 56:8

I find it incredible that even though he is the creator and administrator of the entire universe,  he takes the time to know the (everchanging) number of hairs on my head (Luke 12:7) and keeps track of my sorrows and tears. Quite romantic if you ask me.

19. Favorite celebrity?
I can’t lie, I love the British royal family.

20. What blogger do you secretly want to be best friends with?

I’ve really enjoyed getting back into the blogging community and meeting like minded Christian girls who enjoy writing. I’d love to befriend Emily Ann Putzke, who, incidentally, tagged me for this post.

I am not going to tag anyone in return, since I feel like a total newbie to this side of the blogosphere. Feel free to join in and answer these questions on your own blog! I’d love to hear more from all my new blogging friends. Blogging about my gap year has been a wonderful experience so far. I’ve been encouraged and inspired. I didn’t realize there were so many christian girls taking an untraditional path after highschool AND writing books too!

    Author: Susanna

I'm Susanna, a 20-year-old Christian girl incorrigibly addicted spontaneous adventures. My first dream was to become a pioneer. Unfortunately, I was born a couple centuries late, so I've decided to read, cook, run, and travel the world until my time machine is finished. You'll mostly likely find me getting into trouble and/or eating licorice. I am currently blogging the misadventures of a middle-school teacher in training. Come join me on my quest to become the next Ms. Frizzle!

    1. Love this!! That formatting problem happens all the time on my blog! It looks great while editing, but when I preview/post it, the format goes wacky. What's up with that?! Awww! That last one made me smile! =) You're so sweet!
