Ever heard of National Novel Writing Month? It is this challenge thing where a bunch of people pledge to write a 50,000 word first draft in one month. I heard about it somehow in junior high and thought it sounded like crazy fun, but maybe a bit too heavy on the crazy side. That was pretty much the end of that. That is until I started blogging again a few months ago and heard the buzz of NaNoWriMo overtaking this side of the blogosphere.
How could I turn down this opportunity?
1. There is a huge community of people working at the same time. That means people to talk to, gather feedback from, and comiserate with! I love meeting people.
2. When else am I going to be taking a gap year? When will have the flexibility to rearrange my schedule for a month to include an insane amount of writing time? I may never be so free and flexible again in my life… woah. That was a scary statement. ANYWAYS – I figured I better take advantage of this opportunity.
Now I am super excited to be taking a short break from my historical fiction work to write a draft of a fantasy/fairytale I’ve been thinking about for a while.
I’m going to be posting what I write on figment and wattpad to try and get some feedback as I go. Feel free to check it out; I’d love to hear from you.
Also, if anyone is interested in a writing buddy, my NaNoWriMo name is
Weather Enthusiast. I can’t wait to start meeting people and helping each other on our path ways to 50,000 words!
LET’S GET STARTED!
