Hooray for Vacations in a New World!

NaNoWriMo is in full swing. Ah, it is so nice to have a project that I really truly ENJOY working on. If only I could forget college applications, geography class, and content writing for a while and just FOCUS on it. Alas, life is life. We’ve got to learn to be happy while doing things we don’t one hundred percent love. Still, I AM LOVING NANOWRIMO. I love having goals. I love challenges. I love writing. I love meeting people. This has been absolutely perfect.

I decided to pick up one of my forgotten projects ( a story I came up with in junior high and haven’t revisited since). It is a fairytale in a kingdom where two races are warring with eachother. The story follows three teenagers as their lives interweave with each other and the fate of their homeland.

I was inspired by Sky from Further Up and Further In to use pinterest for inspiration and brainstorming. This was something I have never tried before, but I found that it was extremely fun! I was able to find some pictures that somewhat matched the visualizaiton I had in my head for settings etc. None of the pictures are perfect matches, but they are helping me expand my ideas and work on creating a rich setting for my fairytale.

Let me tell you. It was like going on a pinterest vacation in my own created world.
I think I could get used to this.

Last but not least, a painting of a knight and girl who look almost like Aldwin and Ellyn. Although Aldwin would be paler than Ellyn.

I’m super excited about the way things are going. If you are interested in reading more about Larkenland, read and follow my first draft here.

I'm Susanna, a 20-year-old Christian girl incorrigibly addicted spontaneous adventures. My first dream was to become a pioneer. Unfortunately, I was born a couple centuries late, so I've decided to read, cook, run, and travel the world until my time machine is finished. You'll mostly likely find me getting into trouble and/or eating licorice. I am currently blogging the misadventures of a middle-school teacher in training. Come join me on my quest to become the next Ms. Frizzle!

  1. What a great new resource! I've always loved fantastical digital art, so getting to use it to think about my own fairytale world is pretty exciting. I'm glad my story sounds interesting to you. So far at least my lil sister likes it, but she might be a tad biased : )
