10 Libraries I’m Desperate to Visit.

I judge a town by its library. Whenever I visit a new place, the library is one of the absolute most important places for me to visit. So far, Boston recieves an A++ and New York Central and Queens both recieve strong As. Anyhow, my dad sent me a list of the most beautiful libraries in the world. It had me drooling. I figured I would share some of my most desired libraries with you all:

1. Boston Public Library, Boston MA.

(Status: visited. This was my favorite place in Boston. I’d buy a direct flight to the library if it was offered.)

2.  Central Library, Hunington Beach CA.

(Status: visited. This was my first library ever. I have extremely vague memories of a wedding I attended in the garden. A WEDDING IN A LIBRARY GUYS. What a fantastic idea.)

3.  Central Library, Bristol UK.

(Status: Incoming! I may actually get to go here on my trip to the UK! What a joy!)

4. Stuttgart City Library, Stuttgart Germany.

(Status: still dreaming. One of my good friends is studying abroad in Stuttgart. Perhaps I’ll visit her one day…)

5. Central Library, Seattle WA

(Satus: still Dreaming. Seattle just sounds so lovely. My sister went to visit our relatives there this winter. I begged her to get to the library, but she didn’t have the time. I still haven’t quite forgiven her.)

6. Amsterdam Public Library, Amesterdam Netherlands.

(Status: still dreaming.)

7. Library of Alexandria, Alexandria Egypt

(Status: still dreaming (and drooling… just a little). )

8. Trinity College Library, Dublin Ireland

(Status: I may be going to Dublin in March guys! It isn’t official yet, but one of my friends in Wales has friends in Dublin and… AAAG.)

9. Library of Congress, Washington D.C.

(Status: still dreaming. I’ll be there soon, it isn’t all that far from my house. Considering the fact that I’ve been to D.C. at least four times already, I really must scold myself for not making it in yet.)

10. Royal Portugese Reading Room, Rio Di Janero

(Status: is it horrible that this is like my number one dream stop in all of South America after Machu Picchu?)

Do you have any favorite libraries near you? Do your dream vacations include perfect libraries? Please say yes. Or just tell me that I’ve gone mad. Its okay, I can accept it.

  1. First thought when I saw the title of this post: “If she didn't put Trinity College Library I'm going to be SUPER ANGRY!” (I wouldn't really be angry, I'm just dramatic)

Such a great list of libraries! So beautiful. Out of the list I've only been to Trinity's, and it's beautiful. If you come to Ireland (!!!), you definitely need to see it. Also Dublin is just all-around amazing.

  2. WOW! Actually, the St. Louis library was one I had on my longer list… It just didn't quite make it into this blog post. It probably should have. I have a special love for St. Louis. I haven't spent much time there, but I dream about it!

  3. Haha! I am glad got it in there. It looks like one of the most beautiful libraries in the entire world.

YES! Thanks. I am so excited about the possibility! Let me know if there are any other must-sees in the area.

  4. Oooooh this is such an exciting post. I might have to put this on my bucket list. The only one I've been to is the Library of Congress.

  5. I have wanted to see the Book of Kells ever since I first heard of it! My grandfather wrote a book, The Story of The Bible, that has a lot in it about the Book of Kells.

  6. All such beautiful libraries! Why have I never heard of that library in Seattle?! I was there this summer! Oh well, hopefully I'll make it back up to Washington again soon so I can go there. (-: Also, if you make it down to Oxford, Bodleian Library is supposed to be incredibly gorgeous

  7. Wow, all of these libraries are beautiful. I'm literally drooling over all of them. I really like the one in Stuttgart, Germany. It looks so modern and clean and bright, like something out of sci-fi. Also, the Portugese Reading Room looks fabulous. But how do you even reach those books all the way up there. I'm not going on a ladder that tall.
